Eilon,
March 3, 2005
Hello Peter
Well you are nearly a month behind regarding the local weather.
Temperatures soared into the 30 C range yesterday, and rains have been
scarce after a cold and rainy spell that occurred in early February. At
Eilon, precipitation has fallen below 630 mm [800 mm is the annual
average]. Although considerable precipitation has been known to fall as
late as the third week of March, the warm, dry weather has necessitated
turning on the taps in a few of our fields. Last year we nearly reached
our annual average in February and then the rains came to an abrupt
halt, with March yielding the least amount of rain in recorded history.
What makes it all the more amazing is the deep freeze that has enveloped
Europe. How is it possible that such two very different weather systems
can straddle each other?
Regarding Amos and Tsivik, I do not have their e-mail address. I believe
that they are contemplating attending Mati Musry's Caribbean wedding
cruise that you may have heard of in late June. [Who is Reuven?]
I probably have the largest collection of photos, including most taken
by Amos Shapiro between 1971-73, but Amos is the one to contact
regarding material on-line. I have not invested in either a digital
camera or any other gadget that could transfer the huge collection onto
disks or the screen. I also took the opportunity to photocopy the Adamit
press archive in 1989, and collected in random fashion articles that
pertained to Adamit as they crossed my attention. To the best of my
knowledge the Adamit archive was neglected during the last twenty-years.
At one point the press clippings were organized by Meira's father, the
late David Goren, who was a journalist for the defunct Al-HaMishmar and
volunteered to organize the compilation. The photo archive was
mismanaged and in disarray. There was never any oversight.
David Nahmani, who to refresh your memory, was originally from Ga'arin
El Har, entertained the idea, as did Sara and others, that a website be
built, and hinted that I should build it, but that is not my forte. It
is quite enough trying to maintain epistolary contact with everyone,
which I enjoy doing. One advantage to it is that I can still keep it
personal while fulfilling a personal need.
Regarding Cliff, I may have one photo in which he appears. Cliff worked
with Ron, Ronen, Moti and from my group Tsvi Partnoy and Gidon.
There was another social convergence last Saturday surrounding the visit
of Claudia Chaves, whom you missed. Claudia was from Buenos Aires and
was a member at Adamit from 1977-1983. Today she works as a psycho-drama
therapist in Oregon. She raised a daughter, Gaia, in Adamit. She has a
website that you may find of interest: www.progressivejews.org
The site delves into questions of anti-Semitism within the American
left. Love to all-Barry
